Radiofrequency

Radiofrequency — Skin Tightening Pass

Cosmetic appearance of firmer, smoother-looking skin over a series of sessions.

What am I doing?

An applicator that warms the skin surface and underlying tissue as part of a cosmetic firming service.

Where am I doing it?

Abdomen · Flanks · Upper arms · Thighs

How do I do it safely?

Light, even contact. Heat comes from the device, not from pressure.

What do I do next?

Document the session, give aftercare and set the follow-up.

Movement pattern

Keep the handpiece moving — slow, overlapping, continuous.

  1. 1Small work zone. Treat one small zone at a time rather than the whole area.
  2. 2Continuous sweeps. Slow overlapping sweeps; never park the head.
  3. 3Monitor warmth. Ask about comfort often; warmth should be comfortable, never sharp.
  4. 4Hold the zone. Maintain the zone only for the approved duration, then move on.

Areas to avoid

  • Over implanted electronic devices or metal
  • Thyroid, throat, eyes and genitals
  • Numb areas or areas with reduced sensation
  • Recent injectables or procedures unless cleared
  • Any area excluded by your instructor or the manufacturer

Common beginner mistakes

  • Chasing a temperature number instead of following approved protocol
  • Treating dry skin without enough slip medium
  • Ignoring a client who says the heat is sharp
  • Working over an area with reduced sensation

Safety reminders

  • Comfortable warmth only — sharp heat means stop and reassess.
  • Never treat over areas where the client cannot reliably report sensation.
  • Document tolerance and skin response every session.

Stop

Stop treatment if any of the following happen: Sharp or increasing heat; Blanching, welts or unusual redness; Client anxiety or discomfort; Device fault or applicator damage. Do not resume until the situation has been appropriately evaluated.

Documentation reminders

  • Zone treated and duration
  • Approved settings used
  • Client tolerance
  • Skin appearance before and after

Aftercare considerations

  • Use the instructor-approved aftercare for RF.
  • Common themes: sun protection, gentle skincare, hydration.

Mini quiz
